SIGNING: Clan Add Finnish Netminder Aittokallio To The Roster

The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the signing of Finnish goaltender Sami Aittokallio for the 2025/26 season.
The 32-year-old brings a wealth of top-level experience with him to Glasgow, having played in the NHL, Liiga, DEL, and the Slovak Extraliga. He also has valuable AHL experience, having spent several seasons with the Lake Erie Monsters, where he further developed his game. Most recently, Aittokallio played a key role in HK Nitra’s 2024/25 playoff run, delivering standout performances and finishing the season in top form.
Aittokallio will wear #74 as he takes over the crease at Braehead Arena for the upcoming campaign.
Known for his composure and consistency, Aittokallio has spent his career playing for some of Europe’s top clubs, while also making appearances in the NHL with the Colorado Avalanche. His technical skill set, combined with sharp reflexes and a calm presence under pressure, makes him a formidable presence between the pipes.
Head Coach Corey Neilson made the Finnish stopper his top target following the end of last season:
“Sami was my primary target at season’s end. He’s smooth and calm in his movements, recovers to his feet well, has really good hockey IQ, plays fast and has good hands. He doesn’t ever really look flustered in the net. He’ll look great in purple.”
Aittokallio is also looking forward to making Glasgow his next hockey home:
“I’ve heard nothing but great things about the city, the fans, and the organisation, so I’m really looking forward to getting over to Glasgow, meeting everyone, and getting started. Can’t wait to play in front of the Purple Army!”
With Aittokallio locked in as the new man between the pipes, the Clan continue to build an exciting and experienced roster ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Welcome to Glasgow, Sami.
