REPORT: Clan left seeing Stars as Dundee claim victory

Goals from Colton Yellow Horn and Cody Sol weren’t enough as Glasgow Clan sponsored Aspray Glasgow West went down 5-2 to Dundee Stars in the Premier Sports Elite League.
Clan were keen to get back to winning ways, but found in-form Dundee in no mood to help them out as Omar Pacha’s team picked up their fifth win in six games.
Cody Sol and Kyle Haas dropped the gloves just 17 seconds in, getting into a fight to set the tone for the game.
But it seemed to favour Dundee as Clan couldn’t quite match the intensity of their opponents and pretty soon, they managed to break the deadlock.
Charlie Combs opens the scoring with sheer perseverance as he brought it in from the right, found a route towards goal and flicking it into the net.
Clan hit back as a chance from Mitch Jones came loose, allowing Colton Yellow Horn to sweep up and finish for his first goal of the season.
The Stars restored their lead almost immediately through Gabriel Desjardins as he finished off from close range after a chance from Spencer Dorowitz was initially blocked.
The visitors started better in the second period, but Stars edged further ahead as Sanche doggedly kept the move alive, with Connor Sills just doing enough to get it over the line to make it 4-1.
Clan showed they weren’t out of the game just yet as rocket from Sol flew past Adam Morrison in the Dundee net and the lead was reduced to two.
Timi Lahtinen hit the bar shortly after the game seemed to spark to life and despite chances at both ends, including one from Mathieu Roy in front of the crease, Stars still had the two-goal lead after two periods.
The home side looked content with the lead they had, although an insurance marker would have been appreciated.
They almost got it as Charlie Combs hit the goal frame with 12 minutes to go, as Clan continued to chase the game.
A Brock Beukeboom penalty for hooking gave Stars the man advantage they needed to finish the job when Desjardins’ shot from the right was tipped in by Timi Lahtinen.
A disappointing night on the road, but no doubt plenty to learn from when Clan return home to face Guildford Flames on Sunday, face off 4pm.
