ON THIS DAY: September 30th

We’re got another four games to look back on today and as you can see, the road trips start to become less and less.
On today’s look back, we’re off to Hull in 2012, before hosting Dundee Stars in 2016 then a double header in Cardiff in 2017 and 2018.
GAMES
2012: Hull Stingrays 4 Braehead Clan 5 (After penalty shots – Elite League)
Sylvain Cloutier’s side were ready to add misery to Clan’s weekend after their narrow loss in Belfast yesterday and for a large part of the game, it was a tight affair.
Suddenly the goals flew in and it produced a dramatic contest that needed penalty shots to eventually settle things.
For the first half of the game, it was deadlocked at 0-0, then suddenly three in the latter end of the second period saw Clan surge ahead, courtesy of two from Robert Farmer and one from Bobby Chaumont.
Stingrays hit back in the third with four goals in seven minutes as Jereme Tendler, Ryan Hand, Kurtis Dulle and Janis Ozolins put the home side in front.
Jade Galbraith restored parity with seven minutes to go and the match had to go to penalty shots, where Jordan Krestanovich and Ash Goldie came up with the goods to take the winning point.
2016: Braehead Clan 3 Dundee Stars 1 (Challenge Cup)
Clan finished the month with a Friday night visit by Dundee Stars and two points were up for grabs in this Challenge Cup contest.
Corey Cowick scored the opening goal on the powerplay as Stars’ Craig Cescon sat on a hooking call after ten minutes and from there, there wasn’t much between the two sides.
Dundee captain Joey Sides nabbed the equaliser for Marc LeFebvre’s side halfway through the second period to restore parity.
But just when the idea of overtime and maybe even penalty shots started to be entertained, Clan came up with the goods in the last couple of minutes.
Jeff Ulmer’s go-ahead goal with 75 seconds on the clock looked to seal the contest, with Matt Keith adding the empty net insurance marker to seal the deal.
2017: Cardiff Devils 5 Braehead Clan 0 (Elite League)
The first of our two trips to Cardiff today saw John Tripp’s men line up against an always impressive Devils side and on this occasion, it wasn’t one of the better trips to Wales.
Josh Batch put the home side in front early on to give them an early advantage and while Jacob Doty and Mark Louis engaged in a ninth minute scrap, it did little to improve Clan’s prospects in the game.
Sean Bentivoglio added a second after 11 minutes with Mark Richardson scoring two more for Andrew Lord’s side, one in each of the middle and third period to really enforce their lead.
Justin Faryna completed the rout with a fifth to compel the misery for Clan with 14 minutes to go as the visitors just couldn’t find a way through
2018: Cardiff Devils 8 Glasgow Clan 1 (Elite League)
The second trip to South Wales today was the biggest loss in Pete Russell’s year in charge of the team and a game that may still leave many breaking out in a cold sweat.
Clan were thrashed by the Devils who were collectively on their game, sweeping Glasgow aside in a comfortable victory.
Cardiff were two up through Layne Ulmer and Craig Moore before Clan got their only goal of the game through Josh Gratton.
Three more goals in the second for the home side, from Toms Rutkis, Matt Pope and Mark Louis really piled it on while Sean Bentivoglio, Matthew Myers and Mike Hedden completed the rout.
