NEWS: Jamie takes role as Clan equipment manager

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are pleased to welcome Jamie Douglas to the role of Equipment Manager.
Jamie, who hails from Newcastle, is back in the Elite League after working with Newcastle Vipers between 2007 and 2009.
More recently, he’s worked in NIHL North 1 with the Whitley Warriors and British Basketball League club, the Newcastle Eagles.
Now he’s pleased to be stepping back into the top flight hockey and he revealed the plans around the club were exciting for him.
“It’s an exciting time for Glasgow Clan so when I was asked to take over the role as the club’s equipment manager, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse,” he said.
“I know Gareth (Chalmers) from my time at Newcastle so he’ll already know what I can do for the team and the players in this job.
“When he told me more about the organisation and the plans for the future, I couldn’t wait to hear more.
“But I’ll be fully focussed on making sure Malcolm Cameron and the players have everything they need to perform on the ice, from equipment repairs to skate sharpening. I can’t wait to meet the guys and get started.”
‘Big Red’, as he’s also known, is also reunited with Gareth Chalmers, Clan’s Chief Operating Officer, with whom he worked at the Vipers.
Gareth spoke of his recollection of Jamie previously and why he believes he’s a great fit for the position.
“Jamie is someone I have know for many years, so I was very pleased he applied for the post as equipment manager,” he said.
“His role requires a lot of interaction with the players so, with the personality and experience he has, he’ll definitely fit right into the locker room and I’m delighted to bring him to the club.”
The club are also on the lookout for equipment assistants to join the Clan Crew and work with Jamie this season so if you are interested, or would like to know more information, drop Jamie an email on jamie.douglas@clanihc.com.
