March 4, 2025
The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce a major milestone in the future sustainability of Braehead Arena, as the eagerly anticipated transition from the temporary ice plant to a brand-new, more efficient system has now been successfully completed.
The new ice plant represents another significant investment in the long-term future of the arena and will ensure the highest quality ice surface for players, fans, and the wider skating community. With the new system now fully operational, Braehead Arena is poised to benefit from a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective ice-making process.
Clan Chief Executive Officer Russell Smith expressed his delight about this important step: “The installation of the new ice plant has been a long and complex process which represents a clear commitment to incorporating more sustainable and efficient practices which will benefit not only our team but also the entire ice sports community in Glasgow.”
The Clan played their first game on the new ice on Friday, 28th February 2025, against the Cardiff Devils, marking the beginning of this exciting new chapter at Braehead Arena. The feedback from players and staff has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing the importance of this major upgrade.
We want to thank our incredible fans for their patience and support throughout this journey. The commitment to this project has been unwavering, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to a brighter and more sustainable future at Braehead Arena.
