NEWS: Cameron rallies Purple Army for Storm clash

Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan coach Malcolm Cameron has called on the Purple Army to “blow the roof” off Braehead Arena on Saturday.
Victory over Manchester Storm will see Clan cross the play-off finish line and also end Ryan Finnerty’s side’s hopes of sneaking into the top eight.
But in a week where Cameron’s announced return for next season and the Clan’s awards night have left a positive glow around the team, the coach is looking for the fans to make it a big night.
“The noise of the crowd is going to be a big influence on us on Saturday night,” he said. “Just the emotion that people can tie in with the players and I know, as a player and as a coach, I love hearing how loud it can be.

“You can feel the energy going ups and down the bench when there’s a goal, a big hit, a big save or a fight. It feeds up and down the bench and gives the guys such a shot of adrenaline.
“I appreciate the fans of the Purple Army and the support they’ve given us all through the season and I can’t wait to hear them blow the roof off the place against Manchester.”
Results on Wednesday night meant Clan’s objective became clearer, with only five games left to go in the regular season.
And despite Manchester’s lowly position in the standings, coach Cameron insists the task will be as hard as it’s ever been, but is pleased their own fate lies with them.
“I like being the masters of our own destiny rather than backing in off someone else’s loss,” he said. “This is good for us in a lot of different ways and the short format of the play-offs means getting wins is important and gives us a good mental test.
“Manchester are like a cornered animal, still fighting their way back in and those are the hardest ones to beat.
“They won’t be giving up and we’ll see their very best so we have to match that and then some to go on and win the game.
“The days off the players had has definitely refreshed them and I’ve worked them hard. They’ve been up tempo, looked sharper on the puck and we’ll get things down to specifics before the weekend.”
