THE WEEK AHEAD: Storm and a Challenge Cup

In many ways, it’s a big weekend for Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, as they fight the good fight on two fronts.
The focus is not only on getting back to winning ways in the Elite League campaign, but there’s also the small matter of a Challenge Cup semi-final and the chance to create a little bit of history.
We’ll shelve that for the time being and bring you up to speed with what’s been going on:

SATURDAY
Glasgow Clan vs Guildford Flames (Challenge Cup Semi Final First Leg, face off 7:00pm)
For the fourth time in their history, Glasgow Clan are about to step into a Challenge Cup semi-final on the hunt for a place in this season’s final.
To do that, they need to overcome Guildford Flames, who are on a run of six wins from their last seven and keen themselves to return to a final they last contested in 2018.
Clan have won two out of two at home against the Flames so far this season, but in front of what’s expected to be another big Braehead Arena crowd, cup fever could take over this weekend.

SUNDAY
Manchester Storm vs Glasgow Clan (Elite Ice Hockey League, face off 5:30pm)
Regardless of how Saturday’s cup exploits go, it’s back to league business and for the Clan, a tricky trip to Altrincham is in prospect as Jason Morgan’s side look for some league points.
After a couple of weeks with only a point to show for the last three games, the need to get more on the board and climb the table is always there, but Manchester certainly won’t make life easy.
Clan won there previously when they faced each other in early December so to do it again would certainly end the weekend on a high note.
