SIGNING: Prkusic is purple after Clan signing

June 6, 2024

The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the signing of six-foot-three Canadian forward Nick Prkusic ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The left-handed forward makes the move to the Elite League after spending last season in the East Coast League with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

And the 27-year-old revealed it’s a brand new adventure for him as he gets ready for his first trip to this part of the world.

“I’m super excited to be joining the Clan and there’s so much to look forward to,” he said. “I was looking at a move to Europe and Glasgow ticked all the boxes for me.

“With coach Neilson, I heard great things speaking to other coaches and his record speaks for itself.

“I know we’re going to be a competitive team where we can hopefully compete for a championship and I want to be part of that.

“The coach really likes my game, and there are a lot of things I can certainly bring to the table. I know he believes in that.

“I’ve never been to Europe so I’m looking forward to coming over to experience the city and Scotland, playing in a really competitive league and I can’t wait to get there and get started.”

Prkusic made over 50 appearances with the Swamp Rabbits, scoring four and adding 15 assists in regular season and play-offs for the team.

He previously played for four years with Robert Morris University in the NCAA, and he was the Captain for two of those seasons, before taking time out in 2022/23 as an assistant coach in the Alberta Junior League with Brooks Bandits.

Last season was his first season back as a player, where he impressed with his overall contribution to the team, with his coach there – a familiar face to the Elite League – giving Clan head coach Corey Neilson a glowing reference.

Neilson revealed: “Nick played for, and came highly  recommended by Andrew Lord, his coach at Greenville Swamp Rabbits, and the former Elite League winning coach with Cardiff.

“He’s a smart, coachable player and someone with a good character.  While his stats maybe don’t reflect what he did for his team, he works incredibly hard.

“Nick will play physical, finish checks and has solid hands and a good shot so this season could be a big one for him.”

Prkusic will wear the #77 jersey in the new season.

This will mean that Darien Craighead will not be returning to the Clan in 2024/25 and the club would like to place their thanks on record for his contribution to the team in the previous campaign.
