SIGNING: Mitchell-King to lace up for the Clan

May 21, 2025

The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the signing of British forward Austin Mitchell-King ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 23-year-old arrives from NIHL National League side Peterborough Phantoms, where he spent the last three seasons.

And Mitchell-King said the chance to work with Clan’s head coach Corey Neilson was an opportunity he was keen to take up.

“I’m thrilled to be making the move to Glasgow to join the Clan,” he said. “With some brief Elite League experience and having recently completed my engineering degree, I feel ready to take the next step in my career.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about the atmosphere and the fans in Glasgow so it was a decision that really excited me.

“I know a few guys who have played for the Clan and they have all said a lot of positive things about their time there.

“A key factor in my decision was the opportunity to work with Corey and his coaching staff, continuing my development as a player, and embracing the chance to play in a league as competitive as the Elite League.”

Mitchell-King scored 26 goals and added 27 assists in all competitions last season for the Phantoms, playing 61 times.

The former GB Under 20 played a total of 238 games in league and cup in the NIHL, with 92 goals, and a further 101 helpers from his spell in Peterborough and previously, a year with Telford Tigers.

He is also an NIHL National League winner with the Tigers in 2021-22 and won the cup and play-offs with Peterborough in the subsequent two seasons.

Mitchell-King, to date, has made three Elite League appearances, turning out for the Coventry Blaze in 2022.

Clan coach Neilson admitted Mitchell-King is a young player who has caught his eye and is looking forward to finding out more about what he can do, and how he can develop.

“I’ve had my eye on Austin for a while now, and watched him come up through the minor hockey system,” he said.

“He’s a real big body with some good touch with the puck, and working with him before I found him to be very professional in the way he carries himself.

“He’s a player who is keen to work and learn, which is something that is getting tougher to find in young players.  I’m happy he has joined us and I look forward to finding out what his ceiling is as a player.”
