SIGNING: Peacock comes home for the new season

June 6, 2022

Glasgow Clan sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West are delighted to confirm the return of forward Craig Peacock for the 2022/23 season.

Peacock is back in purple after spending last season with Fife Flyers and is ready to resume his career with the Clan under head coach Malcolm Cameron.

For the 33-year-old, it’ll be a homecoming of sorts after not only playing for the Clan for the four seasons prior to Covid, but his relative closeness to Braehead Arena as well.

“Glasgow’s home for me and still was last season even though I was playing for a different team, but it’s exciting to be back and be part of an exciting time moving forward,” Peacock said.

“Malcolm got in touch with me after our season at Fife ended and it was something that appealed to me.  I’d spent four years here and I jumped at the chance to come back.

“Last season was a tough one for the Flyers, but I really enjoyed and appreciated my time there and met and worked with some great people at that club.

“I definitely won’t miss having to travel over an hour to practice when Braehead Arena was only a couple of minutes away from where I live, like I did last year and I’m delighted to be returning.”

Peacock played 56 times for Flyers last season, scoring five with 19 assists, adding to his previous 218 appearances for the Clan, where he scored 43 goals and made another 60.

In fact, his next competitive appearance will be his 700th in all Elite League competitions, including his time at Belfast Giants, when the new season gets underway in September.

Clan head coach Malcolm Cameron is pleased to welcome Craig back to the Clan and spoke of what he’ll add to his team going forward.

“I’m very happy to have Craig back in the fold with the Clan,” Cameron said. “He’s an experienced player with a great hockey IQ and something I saw first hand when he played for Fife last year.

“He was dangerous for them and can see the plays.  He also has that good veteran presence in the team as well.

“Craig knows Braehead Arena well, knows the Clan and we’re delighted to have him back in the team for the new season.”

Peacock will wear his #71 jersey again for the Clan in the new season.
