SIGNING: Dixon joins the Clan ranks

June 10, 2022

Glasgow Clan sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West are delighted to announce the signing of experienced Canadian forward Stephen Dixon from Cardiff Devils.

The 36-year-old makes the move to Scotland after three seasons in Wales, where he won two play-off titles, including last season’s edition, defeating Belfast Giants in the final.

Dixon reckons his experience of life in the Premier Sports Elite League already puts him halfway into settled in his new team.

“Having played in the league already, it works a little differently, so I’ve got that understanding coming in and the need to be consistent,” he said.

“To me, that’s the key to success in the UK, so having that experience already helps me in coming to a new team.

“But it’s a new chapter and I can’t wait to get things going.  I had a great time in Cardiff with a lot of success and coming to Glasgow was always a hard place to play, in front of those passionate fans.

“I’ve known Malcolm for a long time, as we’re both from the same area and I’ve never had the chance to work with him before so it was something I wanted to do.

“We had some good talks and he’s a passionate guy who wants to win.  I’m expecting to be worked hard by him and hopefully it can lead to success.”

Dixon arrives in Glasgow with 195 games to his name in Cardiff in all Elite League competitions, where he scored 64 times and made 67 assists, for 131 points.

He’s also played almost 40 games in the Champions Hockey League for four different clubs, including the Devils, so has vast experience that will be an asset to the Clan.

Head coach Malcolm Cameron was thrilled to add a player he’s known for a long time into his team and outlined his strengths.

“I’m really excited to add Stevie Dixon to our club this year,” he said.  I’ve known him since he was about 15 years old back in Halifax, Nova Scotia when he was breaking through.

“He’s a reliable player, with good intelligence and has played at every top level of hockey all over the world.

“He’s really good in the face offs, an area we struggled in last year plus he’s a big game player, who can play in any situation.

“Stephen has a good veteran presence too and I couldn’t be happier to add a player of his calibre to our club this season.”

Dixon will wear the #18 jersey for the Clan in 2022/23.
