NEWS: Sullivan keen to put Blaze out

December 16, 2016

NEXT HOME GAME: The Coventry Blaze come to Braehead Arena NEXT SATURDAY (7:00pm face-off) in EIHL action, tickets are available NOW via TICKETMASTER, by calling 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office.

Braehead Clan defenceman Zach Sullivan reckons the team owe Coventry Blaze one after the outcome of their previous meeting.

Danny Stewart’s side nicked a 3-2 victory at the Skydome at the start of November, with their captain Jordan Pietrus netting the winner with 20 seconds to go.

The GB international says it’s important he and his team-mates don’t in any way look back on Wednesday’s Challenge Cup loss to Nottingham Panthers, that ended interest in the competition this season.

“It was definitely disappointing and we felt we had a chance to go there and achieve something, so it’s definitely a let down from that point of view,” Sullivan said.

“But we can’t dwell on the game during the week now and look at the challenges to come, starting with the two big games we have this week then we’re into a busy Christmas schedule.

“We’ve won the last three in the league going into this one so we should be confident of victory with the fans behind us.

“I didn’t play the night we went to Coventry, as I was injured, but I know the guys were really disappointed in how we lost in that game and we definitely want to get one over on them.”

Sullivan says he’s delighted to be back on home ice, with Clan at Braehead Arena after the whole of November on the road.

Now he wants to give the fans something to enjoy and keep a former team-mate quiet in the process as well.

He added: “It’s nice being back at home and not having to travel everywhere, plus being back in front of the fans, some of whom travelled with us. Now we get to put on a show for them.

“It’ll be great to see Ben (Davies) back at Braehead and I’m looking forward to playing against him. Surprisingly, he’s been quiet in the build up to the game.

“He’s usually the first to start with the chirping, but we haven’t heard a thing from him so hopefully he can stay quiet during the game too because he likes a wind up.

“I certainly aim to go out and make sure he doesn’t have an enjoyable night when he comes back to Glasgow.”
