GAME RECAP
Landon Bow gave an outstanding performance in the Glasgow Clan net, making 27 saves out of 28 to help the team to their first Elite League win of the season.
The Clan goalie rightly won the Player of the Game as the home side edged a tightly fought contest over Nottingham Panthers 2-1 in front of a sell Braehead Arena crowd.
Corey Neilson’s side enjoyed a good first period, getting in the faces of the Panthers players and making a couple of big opportunities to test Nottingham netminder Ryan Bednard.
So it was only deserved when Tyson McLellan bagged the first goal, after Cade Neilson showed great initiative to win the puck behind the opposition net and cut a pass back, where McLellan was on hand to finish the chance.
Gary Haden saw a good effort in front of the Panthers net blocked off by Bednard late in the first period as the home side looked to add to their slender lead, but the visiting goalie did just enough.
The second period went the same way as the first, with Glasgow enjoying most of the chances again, causing further problems whenever they moved forward.
Rylan Schwartz scored his first goal of the season after Chris McKay’s pass found the #71 in a good position, sending the puck into the top corner of the net.
Bow made sure he played his part in the game with two superb saves soon after, the first denying Hugo Roy from close range then an instinctive block to deny Reid Stefanson.
There was more to come from the Clan goalie in the third, but was denied a shutout by Dedrik Henbrant, who finished off a rebound to give the Panthers some hope in the final ten minutes.
Glasgow held on for victory for their first home win of the new campaign as well as the first two points in league play.
