SIGNING: Forbes returns home to join Clan

June 12, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of Scottish forward Alex Forbes for the 2023/24 season.

The 26-year-old winger joins from the Coventry Blaze, where he had spent the last five seasons.

And he revealed the opportunity to come to Glasgow was one he couldn’t turn down when it was presented to him.

“I’m extremely excited to join the Glasgow Clan,” he said. “It’s a team I’ve always wanted to play for so when the opportunity came along, it was hard to say no to.

“It was a good couple of weeks talking to the club and to get something done so I’m looking forward to getting back to Glasgow and going to war with my new team-mates every week.

“I wanted to join the Clan because the city is great, the fans are amazing and whenever I visited in the past, Braehead Arena was one of my favourite rinks to play in.

“There was always a buzz about the place and I’m more than sure it will be the same next season.  As fans say, the Clan is massive.”

Forbes, who hails from Elgin, has turned out for Milton Keynes Lightning, where he worked with former Clan coach Pete Russell and prior to that, in the WSHL with Utah side Ogden Mustangs.

In his EIHL career, Forbes has played 289 games in total, scoring 17 times and adding 24 assists for 41 points as he prepares for a new start.

Clan head coach Jason Morgan welcomed Alex to the team and spoke of his qualities as he continues to build his team.

“I’m delighted to welcome Alex Forbes in from Coventry last season,” he said. “He’s a solid two-way right winger who skates very well.

“Alex will be a utility guy for us who can also play defence, and another player pencilled in for the fourth line in the new season.

“I’m glad to have him aboard and look forward to working with him.”

Forbes will wear the #57 jersey and joins Robert Lachowicz on the roster for the 2023/24 season.
