Glasgow’s Braehead Clan head coach Ryan Finnerty believes this weekend is an ideal opportunity to close the gap on fourth placed Nottingham Panthers.
The Clan, who currently sit in fifth place in the EIHL, are currently five points behind the Panthers. Two wins this weekend could see that lead cut to one point.
Braehead welcome the Edinburgh Capitals to Braehead Arena on Saturday (7:00pm face-off), before travelling south to face the Manchester Storm on Sunday.
“With Nottingham being away in Italy for the Continental Cup, we’ve got an opportunity to eat away at their lead and add a little pressure” said Finnerty.
“However, we’re taking each game as they come, we’ve got two difficult games this weekend and we must be 100% focused on the job in hand.
“Taking into account the injuries and knocks we’ve still got, it’s going to be a difficult weekend – but after last weekend we’re confident and hungry for the four points.
“The Purple Army made a huge difference last weekend, the atmosphere on Sunday was electric and if we can get that again it will certainly help us win the battles!”
The Clan are down three key players, with Craig Peacock, Jay Rosehill and Harry Quast out through injury. Lee Esders will make his return to the Clan this weekend on an injury cover basis.
The Clan are really up against it at the moment! Like last weekend, the Purple Army can make the difference! JOIN THE FIGHT!
