Glasgow’s Braehead Clan have been rocked by the news that Canadian forward Mike Hammond will miss the rest of the season.
Following Hammond’s MRI scan last Sunday, the Clan have received the news today that he has three ligament tears in his knee (complete MCL tear plus PCL and ACL tears).
Clan head coach Ryan Finnerty acknowledged the loss of Hammond was a big blow to the club and called on everyone associated with the organisation to pull together heading into the play-offs.
“We we’re hoping it was just bruising and swelling” confirmed Finnerty. “However after the MRI scan, it’s a lot more serious than we had hoped, with surgery highly likely.
“It’s a big blow losing one of the in form players in the whole EIHL, just before the start of the playoffs. However we can’t dwell on a situation that we can’t control.
“We’re a confident organisation right now, we’re up against it as ever against some of the bigger clubs. If we all pull together anything is possible.”
Tickets are available NOW for our playoff quarter final 2nd leg at Braehead Arena on Sunday 2nd April (6:00pm face-off) via TICKETMASTER or by calling 0844 499 1700.
