The Braehead Clan are delighted to announce the return of Scott Aarssen for his fourth season at the club.

Scott first came to Glasgow in 2013 and soon established himself as a top defensive player, receiving praise throughout the league for his steady and consistent performances.

For head coach Ryan Finnerty, bringing him back was important to him and praised the qualities the 28-year-old has made him such a key player.

“Scott’s been a leader since the day he walked into the dressing room,” Finnerty said. “He’s been a constant professional for me and a great guy to coach.

“He’s done everything and more of what we’ve asked of him and it was a no brainer for me to get him back for next season. The day he tells me he’s done or moving on will be a tough one.

“I have a lot of respect for Scott and he seems to like playing for me as well as for Braehead and we’re happy to get the deal done.

“We had one of the better defensive records in the league because of that and our goalies. Scotty was a big part of that and getting him back was key.

“Once we got talking to him, the deal didn’t take long and I’m delighted to have him back for another campaign.”

Since arriving in Glasgow from Austrian side Dornbirner, Aarssen has won two Gardiner Conference titles and played in the 2014 play-off finals for the Clan.

He’s made 179 appearances so far and picked up 112 points, made up of 11 goals and 101 assists in that time.

Scott will once again wear #6 during the 2016/17 season.
