WEEKLY RECAP: Clan Respond Strongly After Cup Exit as Attention turns to Festive Hockey
It was a demanding week for the Glasgow Clan, featuring three games in four nights and plenty of drama both at Braehead Arena and on the road. Despite Challenge Cup disappointment midweek, the Clan showed character with back-to-back wins over the Fife Flyers to finish the week on a high.
WEDNESDAY 17 DECEMBER – NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS (H) | CHALLENGE CUP ELIMINATION
The Clan’s Challenge Cup campaign came to an end on Wednesday night following a 4–1 defeat to the Nottingham Panthers in the Elimination Game at Braehead Arena.
A hard-fought first period saw little to separate the sides, but just two minutes into the second period David Noel opened the scoring for the Panthers. The Clan responded quickly to bring the game level, raising hopes of a momentum shift, but Nottingham regained control and struck three unanswered goals to secure the win and progress.
FRIDAY 19 DECEMBER – FIFE FLYERS (H) | 5–4 OT WIN
The Clan bounced back in emphatic fashion on Friday night with a thrilling 5–4 overtime victory over the Fife Flyers at Braehead Arena.
Captain Deven Sideroff set the tone early with the opening goal, before Austin Mitchell-King and Tristin Langan added to the Clan’s tally in a high-scoring first period. Fife responded with two goals in the second, before a tense third period saw the Flyers equalise early.
Steven Seigo restored the Clan’s lead, only for Josh Winquist to tie the game with just 52 seconds remaining, sending the contest to overtime. There, Brett Neumann sealed the win, sending the Braehead crowd home happy.
SATURDAY 20 DECEMBER – FIFE FLYERS (A) | 2–1 WIN
Less than 24 hours later, the Clan completed a successful weekend with a 2–1 road win at the Fife Ice Arena.
New signing Brady Risk announced himself in Purple with his first Clan goal inside the opening four minutes. Josh Winquist again found the net for the Flyers to level the game, but Captain Deven Sideroff delivered the decisive moment late in the second period, securing another hard-earned two points.
COMING UP
BOXING DAY – DUNDEE STARS (H)
Festive hockey returns to Braehead Arena on Boxing Day as the Clan face the Dundee Stars in league action. It will be the fifth meeting between the sides this season — and the first in EIHL competition — with the Clan having won three of the previous four matchups.
With both teams eager to close out 2025 strongly, this promises to be a closely contested encounter. Fans can also expect to see Daniel Tedesco make his home debut in Purple.
SATURDAY 27 DECEMBER – DUNDEE STARS (A)
The Clan then hit the road the following night, travelling to the Dundee Ice Arena to complete the festive double-header against the Stars.
After a week of highs and lows, the Clan now turn their focus to a crucial festive period with momentum back on their side.
