THE WEEK AHEAD: The beginning of the end

March 13, 2023

After a weekend off, it’s a return to action for Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan and the start of four season-defining games.

While the other teams battled with each other over the weekend, it left the men in purple still in the top eight, but there’s work still to be done/

We’ll tell you all about the two away trips to come this weekend, but let’s get up to speed with what’s been happening:

SATURDAY

Guildford Flames vs Glasgow Clan (Viaplay Elite League, face off 6pm)

As road trips go when you’re returning after a couple of weeks on the sidelines, there isn’t much harder than a Saturday night trip to Guildford Flames who are still fighting for the title.

While Belfast have found that extra gear which could well take them over the line, Paul Dixon’s side aren’t out of it yet and while be zoned in on nothing less than two points to help their cause.

For Clan, the travel on Friday should preserve the energy for this one and while it’s a rink hasn’t been kind to Glasgow through the years, there’s no doubt a victory here would a huge one for all manner of reasons.

SUNDAY

Fife Flyers vs Glasgow Clan (Viaplay Elite League, face off 6pm)

Dyson Stevenson reckons this visit to Kirkcaldy really will be the biggest game of the season and not many will argue with him as this could go a long way to deciding that final play-off place.

It’s the one fixture Clan have enjoyed most success out of this season, taking home eight points from the ten available in the league and victories in the last two visits.

All that counts for nothing when both these rivals come together in what will be a white hot atmosphere in the ‘Auld Barn’ and the points available from this game could not be bigger.

What a game in prospect.
