STATEMENT: Ice Update 17/12/2024

We would like to update the Purple Army regarding the issue with the ice surface at Braehead Arena which saw the Clan’s home game vs the Guildford Flames abandoned on Sunday.

Due to a failure with the temporary ice plant, we encountered serious issues with the maintenance of the ice which resulted in the decision to rearrange the game with safety and welfare of the players, staff and supporters paramount.

However, our dedicated team has worked quickly to resolve the situation, and we are pleased to confirm that the issue is now resolved and the Clan have trained on the ice this morning.

We are also happy to announce that Saturday’s EIHL Christmas Cracker game against the Dundee Stars (7:00pm face-off), will proceed as scheduled.

In addition, we want to assure everyone that significant steps are being taken to prevent such disruptions in the future. Ownership continues the investment, work and transition to a new state-of-the-art ice plant, which is set to be completed in the first quarter 2025. Unfortunately the new plant install to this point has experienced delays out of our control. In the meantime, the Arena is maintaining the ice using a temporary ice plant at significant but necessary costs. Without this temporary measure we would not have been able to compete this season.

We thank our fans for their patience, understanding and continued support in what was a very disappointing and frustrating situation, and we look forward to seeing you at the game on Saturday.
