STATEMENT: Gareth Chalmers Departs The Clan

Gareth Chalmers’ departure as the Managing Director of Glasgow Clan and the Braehead Arena has today been confirmed by the organisation.

Gareth leaves the role after a period of more than a decade dedicated to the development of professional ice hockey in the region of Glasgow.

Michael O’Rourke chairman of the business commented: “Gareth has been an instrumental part of the establishment and growth of the Glasgow Clan as an ice hockey team competing at the highest level in the UK. We would like to thank Gareth for his hard work and dedication. We wish him all the best for the next stage of his career”.

Gareth Chalmers said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work for the club over the past 12 years. I’d like to thank all the coaches, players, staff, volunteers and fans that have worked with me during that period. I’d also like to thank Michael O’Rourke for giving me the opportunity to continue in my role following his takeover of the club & Arena in 2023. The time is right for a fresh start for myself and the club. I will continue to be a big supporter of the club and wish everyone connected with the overall organisation all the very best for the years ahead.”

An announcement will be made regarding the appointment of a CEO of the Glasgow Clan and Braehead Arena in due course.

Glasgow Clan are a professional Scottish ice hockey team formed in 2010 and compete in the Elite League. They play at the Braehead Arena. Braehead Arena is one of Scotland’s premier events and indoor sports venues. Opened in 1999, it boasts a capacity of 5,200 and has played host to some of the biggest acts in the music and entertainment industry.
