SIGNING: Simpson returns on two-way deal

August 9, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the return of Scottish netminder Euan Simpson for the 2023/24 season.

The 23-year-old returns for a second season, but has signed on a two-way deal where he’ll also feature for SNL side Paisley Pirates.

But Simpson is keen to impress Clan coach Jason Morgan and work with the netminding pair of Jake Kielly and Antti Karjalainen.

“I’m buzzing to be back and get the chance to kick on from last season,” he said. “The main goal for me is to improve and hopefully impress the new coach.

“The new owners coming in is an exciting time and they seem to want to create a winning atmosphere, which is a good thing to be part of.

“But I’m looking forward to working and learning from Jake and Antti and I’m in a privileged position where I can do that.”

Simpson worked with Zach Driscoll, Ty Taylor and John Muse last season, but ice time was difficult to come by for him.

He first joined the Clan in the summer of 2022 after a spell in the NIHL with Solway Sharks and prior to that, played in the SNL with Kirkcaldy Kestrels.

His positive mindset was a big plus around the team and it’s a quality that hasn’t gone unnoticed with the Clan coach.

“I’m delighted to welcome Euan back to the Clan and he has an enthusiastic attitude to work hard and improve his game to develop into a full time Elite League goalie,” Morgan said.

“He’s excited to relieve the practice workload of Jake and Antti and learn from goalie coach Jeff Battah to improve daily and we’re glad to have him back.”

Simpson will wear the #33 jersey this season.
