SIGNING: Pelech completes Clan forward jigsaw

August 7, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian forward Mike Pelech for the 2023/24 season.

The experienced centreman is the all-time top ECHL appearance maker with 884 games under his belt and third all-time points in that league, with 686 points (208 goals and 478 assists).

And it’s a brand new start for the 33-year-old, who liked what he had to hear about the club when he was sounded out about the move.

“I’m excited to begin a new chapter of my career by coming to Glasgow to play for the Clan,” he said.

“After speaking with coach Morgan, it became clear to me it’s an organisation that is heading in the right direction.

“My brother played in the EIHL and enjoyed the experience, speaking positively of Glasgow and how it was the right fit for me.

“I’m really looking forward to coming over, meeting my new team-mates and people within the organisation as well as the fans.”

Pelech, up to now, has played his entire career in North America, but brother Matt spent a season on these shores with Belfast Giants in 2019/20.

He arrives after two years with Atlanta Gladiators, with whom he played 71 games last season and scored 75 points, made up of 18 goals and 57 assists.

He stands at 6’3” and will provide a large presence in the forward lines, among other attributes identified by Clan head coach Jason Morgan.

“Mike completes our forward lines and I’m delighted to welcome him to the Clan,” Morgan said.

“He’s coming off his best pro season in the ECHL and we’re excited to see him compete in a purple jersey in the season ahead.

“Mike is a big, natural two-way centre who excels in all areas of the game and another key piece of our team’s success.

“He adds size, skill and leadership to our deep forward core and another welcome addition to the Clan hockey family.”

Pelech will wear the #17 jersey and completes the Clan 2023/24 roster, along with Robert Lachowicz, Alex Forbes, Ryan Harrison, Jordan Cownie, Gary Haden, Philippe Sanche, Jordan Buesa, Charlie Combs, Jake Kielly, Dyson Stevenson, Antti Karjalainen, Nate Kallen, Bryce Reddick, Cody Sol, Luke Lynch, Jake Bolton, Darien Craighead and Reece Kelly.
