SIGNING: New Clan era begins with Lacho

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by , are delighted to announce the signing of Great Britain international forward Robert Lachowicz for the 2023/24 season.

The 33-year-old arrives north of the border after two years with Guildford Flames, where he helped them to a second-place league finish last season and the play-off final four weekend in 2022.

And Lachowicz, who has always been on the other side of the fans’ shouts whenever he’s visited Braehead Arena in the past is looking forward to having them cheer him for a change.

“It’s a pretty exciting time now that we’ve managed to get the deal done and put pen to paper.  I’m delighted to be part of the Clan and everything going forward,” he said.

“To be honest, it’s always been a little bit intimidating going to Braehead Arena because the fans are on top of you, especially when it gets loud in there.

“So it’s going to be pretty cool to experience the other side of that and have that as the support pushing us forward.

“I’ve known a lot of players who have played there and they all loved the city so with that and the new owners, I think it’s going to be great to be part of that.”

Prior to joining Guildford in 2021, Lachowicz spent most of his career with Nottingham Panthers where he won an Elite League title, an IIHF Continental Cup, seven Challenge Cups and four play-off crowns.

He has 864 Elite League competition games under his belt, with 134 goals and 258 assists (392 points) to his name in his 13-year EIHL career.

Lachowicz also been an integral part of the Great Britain men’s national team, where he has won 78 caps, scored four goals, winning two gold medals including in this year’s Division 1A tournament.

Clan head coach Jason Morgan outlined the role he wants his new player to fulfil ahead of the new season as he welcomed Lachowicz on board.

“I’m delighted to welcome Robert to the team after his time with Guildford and helped them to their second spot in the league.

“He’s a veteran centre and has that international experience.  He’ll bring great depth and leadership down the middle for us and I’ll be looking to him to anchor the fourth line.

“We’re pleased to get Robert on board and I look forward to working with him.”
