SIGNING: Harrison set for Scotland move with Clan

June 14, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of experienced centreman Ryan Harrison for the 2023/24 season.

The 31-year-old is making the move to Scotland after spending the last two seasons in the ECHL with Kansas City Mavericks.

And the Canadian, who also holds a British passport, spoke of his excitement about coming to the Clan and revealed one person familiar to the Purple Army who played a part in Harrison’s decision.

“It feels great to sign for the Glasgow Clan for the upcoming season and I was excited about the fresh start under Jason Morgan,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to competing for the fans and meeting my new team-mates, not to mention see what Glasgow, as a city, is all about.

“I played with Shane Starrett in Kansas City, who was my room-mate and he spoke very highly of everything about the Clan which definitely helped in my decision to come to Scotland.”

Harrison played around 120 games in the last two seasons for the Mavericks, scoring 18 goals and picking up 40 assists, for 58 points and played alongside Starrett in last season’s campaign.

Harrison has also iced in Italy with Gherdëina in the Alps Hockey League and in Slovakia with DVTK Jegesmedvek.

The forward also has two Kelly Cup successes, winning it in consecutive seasons with Colorado Eagles in 2017 and 2018.

Clan head coach Jason Morgan says he’s brought in a man with just the right attributes to help his team in the central area.

He said: “I want to welcome centre Ryan Harrison to the Clan family and he’s a player who brings leadership and experience down the middle, a lot like Rob Lachowicz.

“He plays the right way and can be an agitating player to play against, all while chipping in offensively.

“I’m excited to add ‘Harry’ to the team and I’m looking forward to have that leadership and the other qualities he has for the Clan.”

Harrison will wear the #22 jersey and joins Robert Lachowicz and Alex Forbes on the roster for 2023/24.
