SIGNING: Haden stamps return ticket to Clan
The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the return of forward Gary Haden for the 2024/25 season.
Haden had initially left the club in the summer after two years to explore an opportunity in Slovakia, but circumstances have allowed him to come back for a third campaign.
And he couldn’t be happier to be donning the Clan purple and playing in front of the Purple Army again when the season commences in September.
“I am so thrilled to be back for another season,” he said. “Glasgow is home to me with such an amazing fan base.
“When the opportunity arose to come back, it was an easy decision and I couldn’t be more happy to have signed and resume my career in a place I love.
“I’m excited by what the coaching staff want to do and the players in the team so I can’t wait to get started.”
Haden first signed for the club in the summer of 2022 from the University of Alberta and immediately became a hit with his eye for goal and infectious personality off the ice.
He has been the top scorer in the last two seasons, scoring 118 points (59 goals and 59 assists) in his 126 appearances across all competitions.
And he’s already in Germany having met the team in Stuttgart ahead of this weekend’s Warrior Pro Tournament, where he’ll come up against Red Bull Salzburg in Saturday’s opening game.
Head coach Corey Neilson revealed Haden was a player he was keen to keep and is happy fortune has smiled on him in being able to bring the 25-year-old back to Scotland.
He said: “Gary was a player who I wanted to retain for this season so we’re thrilled that he has fallen into our lap.
“With the unfortunate circumstance with Sato, we felt it was imperative to bring some depth to the team.
“We all know how often teams in the Elite League are forced to play short of bodies so Gary provides much needed cover.
“We should have plenty of depth with Cade joining us for a month, ensuring there is competition for jobs on the ice.”
Haden will resume wearing his #23 jersey in the new season.
