SIGNING: Former Iceman Lynch heads for Glasgow

July 26, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of American forward Luke Lynch for the 2023/24 season.

Lynch comes to the league from Jacksonville Icemen in the ECHL, where he has spent the last two seasons.

And the 27-year-old is already looking ahead to life in another country as he contemplates the campaign ahead.

“I’m honoured and extremely excited to be part of the Glasgow Clan next season,” he said.

“It’ll be my first time in Europe so I’m looking forward to learning about the culture and everything that comes with it.

“I know a few people who have played in Glasgow in the past and they said a lot of positive things about their experience there.

“I’m excited for the opportunity and I’m looking forward to hopefully having a successful year with the team.”

Lynch has played over 150 games in the ECHL, primarily with Jacksonville, scoring 31 goals and 63 assists over the last two seasons, totaling 94 points in that time.

Prior to that he had a brief spell with Wheeling Nailers during the Covid-affected 2020-21 after leaving Robert Morris University in the NCAA.

He had spent four years at the Pennsylvania school and picked up 105 points in 155 games throughout his time there.

Clan head coach Jason Morgan says Lynch is a player who adds another couple of options to his team.

“I’m delighted to welcome Luke to Glasgow and he’s a right shot centreman which gives us great depth down the middle.

“He plays a gritty two-way game and is a very hard worker, plus he possesses good playmaking ability as well as a good shot.

“Luke is also a player who adds leadership to the team, and we welcome him to the Clan hockey family.”

Lynch will wear the #84 jersey and joins Robert Lachowicz, Alex Forbes, Ryan Harrison, Jordan Cownie, Gary Haden, Philippe Sanche, Jordan Buesa, Charlie Combs, Jake Kielly, Dyson Stevenson, Antti Karjalainen, Nate Kallen, Bryce Reddick and Cody Sol on the 2023/24 roster.
