SIGNING: Forbes returns for second season with Clan

May 22, 2024

The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the return of forward Alex Forbes for the 2024/25 season.

The 27-year-old has committed to a second season with the club after signing from Coventry Blaze in the summer of 2023.

And Forbes is already looking forward to the opportunity to return in the new season and the chance to help improve the team’s fortunes.

“I’m really excited to come back for the Clan next year,” he said. “As I said when I signed, it was a place where I wanted to play for years and when the opportunity came, I couldn’t pass it up.

“I enjoyed the season even though we didn’t finish the way we would have liked, and everyone was disappointed.

“But now we’ve got the chance to change that and I’m looking forward to being back on board with the new coach and showing the Purple Army what we’re capable of.”

Forbes made 61 appearances in Clan colours, scoring three goals and making eight assists throughout the campaign.

Prior to signing in Glasgow, Forbes made just under 300 appearances in all EIHL competitions from his time with Coventry Blaze and Milton Keynes Lightning.

With injuries affecting the team last season, the Scot, who hails from Elgin, was called upon to fill in as a defenceman, a task he performed well when called upon.

Clan head coach Corey Neilson welcomed Forbes back to the team for the new season and is happy with what he brings to the roster.

He said: “Alex returns for a second season and not only has the versatility to play in offence, he can fill in on defence if he’s needed.

“He has been around the Elite League for a few years now, so he brings experience and wants to compete in every game.”

Forbes will continue to wear the #57 jersey in the new season.
