SIGNING: Craighead heads for Braehead

August 2, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian forward Darien Craighead for the 2023/24 season.

The 26-year-old from British Columbia makes the move to the UK after a year in Norway where he played for Manglerud and Valerenga.

And the latest Clan face is already counting the days until he joins his new team-mates in the latest chapter of his career.

“I’m super excited to be signing for the Glasgow Clan.  I’ve heard so many great things about the organisation and the city.

“There’s been a lot of positive things going on, with the new ownership and the team being put together.

“I can’t wait to get moving over to Scotland to play some hockey and meet the fans too.”

Craighead split his season between the two Norwegian clubs last year in the Fjordkraft Ligaen, playing 44 times combined, scoring 11 goals and assisting in 33.

Prior to that, he played in the ECHL for Indy Fuel, netting 21 times and picking up 26 helpers for 47 points in 48 points during 2021/22 following a short spell with Norfolk Admirals.

It won’t be the first time Craighead has graced these shores, living in the UK for a spell in the early 2000’s when dad, John, played for Nottingham Panthers and Cardiff Devils.

Clan head coach Jason Morgan highlighted Craighead’s physical assets and reckons he’ll have a big role in the season ahead.

“I’m thrilled to have Darien come to the team and he’s a natural goalscorer with a massive shot plus can play a physical game.

“He has a big body and isn’t afraid to play hard in those situations.  He’ll play a big part in the team’s offence as he excels on the powerplay.

“We’re delighted to sign him, and I’m excited to have him on board.”

Craighead will wear the #77 jersey and joins Robert Lachowicz, Alex Forbes, Ryan Harrison, Jordan Cownie, Gary Haden, Philippe Sanche, Jordan Buesa, Charlie Combs, Jake Kielly, Dyson Stevenson, Antti Karjalainen, Nate Kallen, Bryce Reddick, Cody Sol, Luke Lynch and Jake Bolton on the 2023/24 roster.
