SIGNING: Cownie commits for another campaign

June 16, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the return of forward Jordan Cownie for the 2023/24 season.

Cownie returns after a decent campaign for the Clan last season where his energetic and hard-working performances earned praise from the fans.

And Jordan, who comes from Dundee, is thrilled to be back at the club during an exciting time for the organisation.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be back with the Clan,” he said. “I really enjoyed my time at the club last season and can’t wait to start this new chapter under the new ownership and coaching staff.

“It was a no brainer for me to return and my girlfriend and I love the city and the passion of the supporters that follow the team home and away.

“It’s exciting to be involved with the club under the changes and I really feel that we’re going to have a great team on the ice this year and be able to push the club up to the top half of the table, where it deserves to be.

“As for the Purple Army, I’ll forever be thankful for the support they showed us through the hard times last year.

“Hopefully this season brings a lot more positive times and together we can all chip in to make it a year to remember and push this club forward.”

Cownie’s first full season in Glasgow saw him score five goals and make 23 assists for 28 points during his 62 appearances across all competitions.

He signed from Guildford Flames in the summer of 2022, where he helped them to a spot in the play-off finals weekend that year.

The 27-year-old has also played for Nottingham Panthers and Dundee Stars during his Elite League career, where he has made over 300 appearances and picked up over 150 points in total.

Clan head coach Jason Morgan welcomed the Scot back to the team for the forthcoming campaign and says he’s looking forward to seeing what Cownie can do.

“I’m pleased to welcome back Jordan Cownie to the team for the new season and he’s a left winger who has good hands and skates very well,” Morgan said.

“Jordan’s a very talented player and he’s someone who will continue to grow his game while surrounded by great players.

“I’m looking for him to take his game to the next level and he’s someone I have in mind for the third line.  I look forward to working with Jordan this season.”

Cownie will continue to wear the #14 jersey and joins Robert Lachowicz, Alex Forbes and Ryan Harrison on the roster for 2023/24.
