SIGNING: Clan swoop for Star man Sanche

June 21, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian forward Philippe Sanche for the 2023/24 season.

The 28-year-old joins the Clan after two years with Dundee Stars and brings versatility across the forward lines, where he can play on either wing or through the centre.

And Sanche is already looking ahead to returning to Scotland and experiencing life in Glasgow with his new team.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be signing with the Glasgow Clan and a team I have enjoyed many battles with them so I’m looking forward to being part of them,” he said.

“The future is an exciting one there and I’m excited to get to work with coach Morgan, who I know has big plans.

“The Purple Army have always brought plenty of energy whenever I played against the Clan so hearing the noise they bring is another thing to get excited about. I can’t wait to return to Scotland and get started.”

Sanche was brought to Dundee by former coach Omar Pacha in 2021 and helped the Stars reached the final four weekend in 2022, where they were beaten by Cardiff Devils in the semi final.

He stayed on under Jeff Mason last season, but Stars failed to reach the top eight and after a total of 115 appearances, 57 goals and 69 assists, for 126 points, he’s keeping his Elite League career going by moving to the Clan.

Prior to his move to the UK, Sanche played for four years with USports side Concordia University Stingers, where he played 112 times, scoring 52 goals and 55 assists for 107 points.

Clan head coach Jason Morgan is pleased to add the forward to his line-up and gave an insight into the role Sanche will have with the team.

“I’m very excited to add Philippe Sanche to the team, after coming off two very good seasons in Dundee,” he said.

“Last year, he led the way in points with the Stars, and he’s a very intelligent offensive player.  He’ll boost our powerplay, has a great shot and a quick release.

“Philippe also plays with a feisty edge, he’ll be expected to bring leadership, and we welcome him to the Clan hockey family.”

Sanche will wear the #10 jersey and joins Robert Lachowicz, Alex Forbes, Ryan Harrison and Jordan Cownie on the roster for 2023/24.
