SIGNING: Clan strengthen with D-man Bolton

November 4, 2022

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman Jake Bolton.

The 30-year-old, from Connecticut, returns to the ViaPlay Elite League after spending last season with Guildford Flames.

And Bolton is looking forward to being back at Braehead Arena again and having the support of the home fans this time.

“I’m delighted to join Glasgow Clan and I already know some faces in the team, playing with John Dunbar, Jordan Cownie and Nolan LaPorte previously,” he said.

“It seems like a really good club who are headed in the right direction and I want to come in and help them do that.

“Whenever I visited Braehead Arena last year with Guildford, it was always a tough night so I’m looking forward to being on the right side of their support and I can’t wait to get started.”

Bolton’s career has been primarily in North America, playing for ECHL sides Atlanta Gladiators, Wichita Thunder, Quad City Mallards and Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

He first came to Europe in December 2019 when he signed for Norwegian side Narvik before heading to Sweden for a season in 2020-21 with Bodens HF.

Paul Dixon signed him for Guildford last season, where he played with current Clan pair John Dunbar and Jordan Cownie and helped them reach the play-off finals weekend.

Bolton made a total of 65 appearances for the Flames, scoring 16 goals and making 21 assists for 37 points.

Clan interim head coach Stephen Dixon welcomed Bolton to his line-up and revealed the new man has already made an impression.

“We’re happy to have Jake join our team.  He’s a player who will help us on both ends of the ice and gives us experience.

“He had a great year in Guildford last year so knows the league and what to expect, which will help us.

“Jake has already practiced with the team and you could tell his leadership already as he was vocal and communicated well and we’re pleased to have him with us.”

Bolton, who is sponsored by Wilson Architects, will wear the #88 jersey this season.
