SIGNING: Clan Sei-go for Steven
The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the signing of experienced Canadian defenceman Steven Seigo ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The six-foot blue liner makes a move from Germany after spending the last two seasons with Kassel Huskies in DEL2.
His resumé has also seen stays in North America, Sweden, Finland and Latvia as he gets ready to add the UK to that impressive travel log.
“I’m really excited to be coming to Glasgow this season,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to having a fun year and trying to turn things around from the last campaign.
“I’m also hoping we can have some success, and I’m really happy for the challenge and the opportunity, and I hope everyone else is as well.
“It will be good to get over and get started and I can’t wait for when the time comes.”
Seigo helped Huskies top the regular season table in the last two years, reaching the play-off finals last year, but they fell at the last hurdle to Regensburg in six games.
Over his time there, he played 113 games in regular and post-season games, scoring nine times and adding 39 assists for 48 points.
Prior to that, he played 99 games in the SHL and Allsvenskan in Sweden with Mora IK over two spells, 66 times in the DEL with Ingolstadt and Straubing Tigers as well as 53 KHL games, picking up 19 points (4 + 15) with Dinamo Riga.
Seigo can also count two trips into the Champions Hockey League with Finnish sides TPS and Lukko in his records too.
Clan head coach Corey Neilson revealed Seigo was another player he was keen to land for his team.
He said: “Steven has been on my list since day one and one of his greatest assets is his skating ability.
“I feel he will be the perfect complement to our big and physical defensive corps and a player with a high hockey IQ who is motivated to win and compete any way the game demands.
“Steven will play all situations, including powerplays and penalty kills, plus will help to lead the group. We’re thrilled to have him come here for the new season.”
Seigo will wear #49 in the new campaign.
