SIGNING: Clan add experienced Petryk to roster

October 20, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian forward Reid Petryk for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

The 30-year-old, from Edmonton, comes to the club after three years in Norway and plenty of experience, notably in the AHL.

And Petryk revealed he can’t wait to get going with his new club after agreeing terms to move to the UK.

“When I got the call and heard what coach Morgan had to say, I couldn’t wait to come over,” he said.

“The Elite League is a popular place to go and I’ve played with guys who say a lot of positive things of their experience there.

“Moving to Glasgow was attractive because of the fan base and the chance to explore another part of the world.

“I’m excited to make the move to the Clan and I’m looking forward to being part of the team and hopefully, we can deliver some success.”

Petryk spent the last two seasons with Ringerike in Norway, where he played 42 games last year, scoring 13 goals and adding 12 assists.

This followed a year with Frisk Asker, where he joined in 2019 after arriving from North America, where he made over 200 appearances in the AHL, representing Lake Erie Monsters, San Antonio Rampage and Chicago Wolves.

Such was his potential, he was also signed by NHL side Colorado Avalanche in 2017 and was assigned back to San Antonio during that time.

Clan coach Jason Morgan talked up the attributes his new player will bring to the team and says he’s looking forward to working with him.

“We’re excited to add Reid to the Clan hockey family and a player of his calibre will benefit us greatly up front,” he said.

“With Charlie Combs and Matt Barry on the IR list, Reid will add a boost to the offensive lines and plays with great character.

“He has a wealth of experience and brings some size too.  He has an excellent shot and skates very well so I’m looking for him to add depth to our forward core.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him in person after good conversations with him over the phone, and definitely looking forward to having him in our line-up.”

Petryk will wear the #11 jersey for the Clan this season.
