SIGNING: Another defensive Bolton for Clan

July 31, 2023

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the return of American defenceman Jake Bolton for the 2023/24 season.

The six-foot-two blueliner from Connecticut returns to the club after deciding to come out of retirement to resume his career with the Clan.

And he has his eyes on a prize or two after seeing how the project under head coach Jason Morgan is coming together.

“I’m absolutely delighted to re-sign for the Clan and I was in a position where I could step back into the game,” he said.

“I had some great talks with Jason and saw how the team was coming together, it was a decision, for me, where I hope I can bring some toughness, leadership and some offence.

“Hopefully we can go after some hardware this season and I can’t wait to get back to Scotland.”

Bolton had a brief spell with the club last season, playing just eight times and scoring twice, but his presence, while brief, made an impact on the team that had been struggling for form.

He left to take a job outside of hockey in late November, but has decided his work in hockey is far from over as he dons the skates – and the Clan purple – again.

Prior to his spell in Glasgow, Bolton previously played with Guildford Flames, with whom he made 65 appearances during the 2021/22 season, scoring 16 goals and making 21 assists.

He was part of the team that reached the play-off finals weekend in 2022 and played in the team alongside current Clan forward Jordan Cownie.

Coach Jason Morgan highlighted Bolton’s key assets as he welcomed another big piece to his jigsaw ahead of the new season.

“I’m pleased to welcome back Jake Bolton to Glasgow,” he said. “He’s a player who will bring size and a physical presence to our blue line.

“He moves well and can be a scoring threat at any time with his big shots, which are his biggest asset.

“Bolts will play a key role in our team’s success and I’m delighted he’s agreed to come back to the Clan and re-join the family.”

Bolton will wear the #19 jersey and joins Robert Lachowicz, Alex Forbes, Ryan Harrison, Jordan Cownie, Gary Haden, Philippe Sanche, Jordan Buesa, Charlie Combs, Jake Kielly, Dyson Stevenson, Antti Karjalainen, Nate Kallen, Bryce Reddick, Cody Sol, Luke Lynch and Jake Bolton on the 2023/24 roster.
