SIGNED: Ferguson ready for Clan education
The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of Scottish forward Harry Ferguson.
The promising 22-year-old is returning to the top flight after spending the last three years in the NIHL, with Peterborough Phantoms, MK Lightning and MK Thunder.
Now he says he’s keen to learn from the Clan head coach Malcolm Cameron and believes his move back to Scotland was one he couldn’t turn down.
“For me, I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to come to Glasgow so when it was offered to me, I bit their arm off,” he said.
“Coming here is the next step in my career after learning so much playing in Moray in the SNL then Edinburgh with the Capitals and more recently in Milton Keynes.
“I learned a lot when I was in the Elite League last time and I’m still learning and developing and I’ll do that under the new coach.
“I think he’ll teach me a lot in Glasgow and make me a better person and that was one of the reasons for coming.
“He explained to me he’s worked with young players before and that’s an encouraging thing for me so it certainly makes sense to me to make this move now.”
Ferguson started out with Moray Typhoons in the SNL before making the move to Edinburgh Capitals in 2016, playing in their last two years in the Elite League, making 89 appearances and scoring three and assisting in three.
He moved to Milton Keynes Lightning in 2018, playing under Tim Wallace in their final year in the EIHL and stayed with them when they joined the NIHL National League in 2019/20.
Ferguson guested for MK Thunder in short format tournament, the Ruggedstock Cup and subsequent play-offs during last season, scoring three and two in six total appearances.
Cameron sees potential in his latest signing and believes he’s someone who could have a promising future with the organisation.
“Harry Ferguson is a bright young player that we’re excited to have in our line up,” he said. “He’s a guy with some tremendous upside and will improve daily with this group od players.
“We’re looking at him for getting into game action and someone who can be a big part of the Clan.”
Ferguson is signing number 16 for the Clan in 2021/22 after Shane Starrett, Colin Campbell, Rodney Southam, Matt Haywood, Jordan McLaughlin, Mathieu Roy, Medric Mercier, Nolan LaPorte, Colton Yellow Horn, Jordan Buesa, Cody Sol, Mikko Vainonen, Jamie Crooks, Reece Cochrane and Guillaume Gauthier.
He will wear the #41 jersey this season.
