REPORT: LaPorte’s winner breaks Dundee hearts
Nolan LaPorte scored a last gasp winner to seal victory as Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan overcame Dundee Stars in dramatic fashion.
The 4-3 victory gave Malcolm Cameron’s men the points in part one of a double header that concludes in Dundee on Sunday.
But the manner of the win was crucial after the disappointment of the road loss in Coventry earlier in the week.
Mitch Jones came up with the opening goal, sending his shot flying past Brython Preece in the Stars net on the four-on-four opportunity.
The home side added a second before the end of the first when Colton Waltz, making his home debut saw his chance blocked, with Braylon Shmyr executing the finish on the rebound.
Shmyr added a second early in the middle period when Gauthier’s pass across the crease found the #91 and he stroked into the net.
But Dundee hit back almost immediately as Sebastian Bengtsson’s shot popped away from Shane Starrett and trickled over the line.
Soon the Stars had pulled themselves to within one as Gabriel Desjardins smashed in a nice finish and the contest was getting tighter and tighter.

Desjardins was there to pull the Stars level with 10 minutes to go as a reward for their efforts in trying to claw the game back.
Clan thought they’d scored when a chance popped away from Preece and despite a home stick trying to force it over the line, it never made it – something the officials checked to be sure.
But the final minute, a too many men penalty proved to be Dundee’s undoing as they faced a late powerplay.
Colton Yellow Horn set up LaPorte, who drove forward and cracked one into the net to break Dundee hearts, taking the points in a tight contest where both teams will go to do it all again on Sunday.
