Glasgow’s Braehead Clan suffered a setback in their quest for a place in the play-offs as Dundee Stars came from behind to take victory in a 4-3 win.
The Stars arrived looking to arrest a slide of seven straight losses and got the perfect start when they opened the scoring inside the first minute.
Chris Lawrence picked up the puck and found himself in space to despatch a low shot beyond Ryan Nie’s right side as Stars got themselves ahead.
The home side levelled minutes later when a shot from Adam Brace escaped from Dundee goalie Travis Fullerton as he tried to retrieve it, but to no avail.
Brace got his second of the night early in the middle period when Jacob Doty’s delivery from the right found the forward arriving late, with his touch taking it beyond Fullerton.
Stars hit back when Cody Carlson fired in from the blue line, with Lawrence doing the same as the home team struggled to clear their lines.
It fell to Jimmy Jensen just outside the crease, who got the touch to take it beyond Nie and restore parity.
Fans were on their feet when a big hit from Tyler Shattock on Omar Pacha kicked off a fight between the Clan man and Carlson.
By the end of the period, the home side were 3-2 ahead when another Brace late finish, this time from a Craig Peacock delivery completed a hat-trick for Braehead’s #18.
Dundee got themselves level when Marc-Olivier Mimar got the final touch on a shot from point by Gabriel Levesque.
Then a turnover saw the Stars take advantage as Mimar got his second to clinch the victory for the visitors to help their own top eight aspirations.
