Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan suffered another tough loss, going down 6-2 to Manchester Storm at Braehead Arena.

Steven McParland had an early opportunity for the Clan as he picked up the puck in the neutral zone and drove into the Storm zone, but he couldn’t beat Storm netminder Jeremy Brodeur.

Liam Stenton came close to opening the scoring deep into the first period when he forced Brodeur into a difficult catcher save with a powerful slapshot.

Storm’s goalie was back in action shortly after though as he had to bolt across his line to keep out a rebound effort at the backdoor by Drew McLean.

Tyler Barrow opened the scoring for the visitors as he picked up a pass on the left side and slotted it high into the roof of net from close-range.

The Clan weren’t behind for long though as Stephen Dixon equalised for the hosts when he tipped Kevin Massy’s shot to redirect it high over Brodeur.

The Storm were quickly back in front after Stephen Johnson and Michael Korol scored in quick succession during a four against four to put Manchester ahead by 3-1.

Craig Peacock had a chance for the Clan early in the second period as well as he picked up a loose puck at the backdoor and fired it on net, but he couldn’t find a way through Brodeur.

The Storm extended their lead to three goals at the half-way point in regulation as Jake Bricknell tapped the puck past Glasgow goalie John Muse from the edge of the crease.

Haden and Massy had good chances one-on-one with Brodeur in the second period but the Storm netminder managed to keep both efforts out.

Peacock thought he’d scored a second for the Clan when he sent a rebound into the net but after review, it was determined that he had kicked it into the net and the goal was disallowed.

Manchester scored a fifth goal through Anthony DeLuca after he picked up the puck on a breakaway and sent it past Muse.

Then Storm then made it 6-1 through a Scott Simmonds goal late in the game, tapping in from a DeLuca assist.

Dyson Stevenson grabbed a second goal for the Clan when he redirected Mitch Jones’ slapshot in close to send it past Brodeur.

A late fight between Gabriel Chabot and former Clan defenceman Zach Sullivan added some late drama, but the game was already ended as a contest.
