Two late goals from Ryan Dingle and Kyle Haines turned this play-off quarter final around despite Braehead Clan leading for much of the game.

For much of the first period, the Flyers looked for a goal that would them a position of command in this tie and although Shayne Stockton and Michael Dorr went close, Chris Holt blocked them both.

Snapshots from Zach Sullivan and Scott Pitt forced saves from Fife goalie David Brown, but the Fifers had been on top.

That is until Clan took the lead at the end of the first when Matt Keith’s effort into the zone found Marcus Gotz loitering as he tapped it home.

There was concern early in the second as Holt went down hurt, requiring treatment, but recovered sufficiently to continue the game.

The game however was laden with penalties for both sides as a competitive match was being played out in the cauldron of the ‘auld barn.’

Clan defensive core continued to frustrate in the third period, but a late penalty for Alex Leavitt for interference gave the Flyers the opening they craved.

Ryan Dingle got the final touch to equalise for the home team on the powerplay then Kyle Haines let rip with a shot that left Holt beaten the turn the tie around.

As it stands, it’s advantage Fife, but it’s not over yet, with 60 minutes in Glasgow lying ahead for both teams tomorrow night.
