Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan suffered a frustrating night as they fell to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Coventry Blaze.

It simply wasn’t to be as the home side looked to add to the impressive 3-0 win over the Guildford Flames on Thursday, but came up short.

With eight minutes on the clock, the first goal of the night would come the way of the visitors as Evan Bloodoff took full advantage of the extra man, finishing on the powerplay.

Two minutes later, the Clan were left with a difficult task as they found themselves two goals down as John Curran started and finished a well worked move, with some help from Janne Kivilahti.

However, this lead would not last long as a minute later the Clan had a goal of their own. Rodney Southam with the effort as he powered the puck high, giving CJ Motte no chance in the Blaze goal.

The second period proved a more difficult time for goals as both sides struggled to set the candle alight.

With 28 minutes on the clock, the Clan’s hard work was undone as the Blaze had another. Luke Ferrara with yet another powerplay goal, firing past Starrett to reignite their two-goal lead.

In search of a comeback, the Clan failed to take advantage of a five-on-three at the end of the period, giving the Blaze a massive boost going into the third.

With three minutes remaining it was game on again as the Clan found their second of the night. Nolan Laporte this time getting the better of Motte, reducing the lead to just one.

Despite a late push it was not to be the Clan’s night as Mitch Cook confirmed the win with 41 seconds remaining, slotting into the home net, ending the night on a low note for the home support.
