REPORT: Clan suffer Friday fall to Panthers

December 3, 2021

It was not to be for Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan tonight as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Panthers.

Mathieu Roy’s goal was the highlight of the night as a series of missed chances came back to bite the men in purple.

Both sides were no strangers before tonight, facing-off just 12 days ago as the Clan came from behind twice to snatch a winner at the Motorpoint Arena.

After three wins in their last five, Clan looked to climb up the ladder as they continue to catch up with their games in hand.

As expected, the opening third proved it was to be a physical affair as the visitors looked determined to get one back.

With an evident level of tension rising, the crowd inside Braehead Arena was treated to a scrap just four minutes in as Clan powerhouse Dyson Stevenson came out on top in a dominant affair over Panthers counterpart Mathieu Tousignant.

With the chances coming thick and fast for the home side, it was only a matter of time before the breakthrough in the second.

That would eventually come through non-other than Mathieu Roy, who advanced in a one-on-one situation after a sublime pass from Cody Sol to deliver a shot into the top shelf.

However, the lead would not last as Panthers were level three minutes from time in the second.

With his back to goal, Robbie Baillargeon expertly swivelled before sending the puck in off the left post.

Clan were struck a blow as the Panthers raced into the lead as Shane Starrett was beaten by Tousignant, who expertly lifted the puck over the American.

The visitors raced into a two-goal lead on 53 minutes when Jeremy Welsh swept the puck round Starrett and into the near post.

With 47 seconds left on the clock the win was confirmed as the Clan committed Starrett giving Simon Suoranta the simple task of slotting into an empty net.
