Recap: Clan Bounce Back with OT Win Over Giants
It was a mixed weekend for the Glasgow Clan as they faced back-to-back fixtures at Braehead Arena, falling to the Manchester Storm on Friday before responding with an impressive overtime victory against the Belfast Giants on Saturday.
Friday night’s EIHL League matchup saw the Clan struggle to find their rhythm against a well-drilled Manchester side, ultimately falling 4–0 in regulation.
Less than 24 hours later, the Clan hit the ice again — this time in Challenge Cup action — determined to turn things around. In front of a lively home crowd, the team showed character and resilience, edging the Giants 3–2 in overtime. Goals from Brett Neumann, Jason Fram and Darien Kielb secured a vital win, with Kielb netting the overtime game-winner to send Braehead Arena into celebration.
Assistant Coach Mike Sirant praised his team’s response, noting the grit and determination shown after a tough first game of the weekend:
“Corey challenged the guys today and said last night wasn’t acceptable and we needed to be better. And to the guys credit, they really stepped up and responded to that.”
The Clan now turn their attention to Wednesday night’s clash against the Sheffield Steelers, who they recently defeated 3–2 at the Utilita Arena. In that game, Hugo Roy, Deven Sideroff, and Brayden Burke were all on the scoresheet as the Clan battled to an impressive road win.
