RE-SIGNING: Pelech pledges return for 2024/25 season

January 16, 2024

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West are delighted to announce the return of forward Mike Pelech for 2024/25.

Pelech joined the club from Atlanta Gladiators in the ECHL in the summer and despite suffering injury, has become a fan favourite among the Purple Army.

And he was only too happy to commit to another season in purple after agreeing terms.

“I have decided to re-sign with the Clan for next season and I’ve really enjoyed my time living in Glasgow so far,” he said.

“I am excited for the direction the team is going in and I’m thrilled to be part of it for another season.

“Coming here has been a great experience for me and working with the guys makes coming to the rink a lot of fun.

“It was a decision I knew would be the best one for me so I am glad to have signed up for next season already.”

Pelech’s physical stature, his ability to screen opposition netminders and get crucial tips on shots in front of goal, not to mention his face-off prowess has made him a key member of the team already.

In his 24 appearances, he has scored nine goals and picked up 12 assists, for 21 points in a productive campaign so far.

However, he has missed the last month due to injury, not featuring since Clan’s 3-1 win at Cardiff Devils to claim a place in the Challenge Cup Semi-Finals.

Head coach Jason Morgan welcomed the #17 back for next season and says Pelech’s return to action will be a popular one among the locker room too when it happens.

He said: “Mike is a 200-foot guy that brings so much energy and high-end talent to the team and is probably our most complete player for his battle and compete, plus his work ethic.

“He’s a true professional and his board and battle work is second to none and is such a net front guy, how he competes in there.

“Mike makes the players he plays with better and is a big part of the leadership group and leads by example every day plus is so good in the face-off circle.

“We’ve missed having him in our line-up so hopefully it won’t be long before he is able to return as I know the guys will delighted to be getting him back with them too.”
