SIGNING: Massy becomes a Clansman

July 6, 2022

Glasgow Clan sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West are delighted to announce the signing of six-foot four defenceman Kevin Massy for the 2022-23 season.

The 26-year-old joins from Premier Sports Elite League rivals Nottingham Panthers, with whom he played for in the second half of last season.

Massy is looking forward to his new challenge and is aiming high when he turns out in purple in the new campaign.

“It was nice to get my feet wet in Nottingham last year in a league I’ve wanted to play in for a while so my experience there was a positive one and I’m glad to be signing for the Clan,” he said.

“The fact I’ve had some time in the UK will help me a lot in settling in and it’s going to be much more comfortable for me.

“I’m looking forward to having the chance of a full season in Scotland.  The team looks really good right now and I’m excited to get going at the end of August.

“Last year, Glasgow placed in sixth so I’m coming in, hoping to help lift them into the top four and compete with the top teams and I can’t wait for that first game.”

Massy played 29 times for Panthers after signing for them from French side Anglet, scoring two goals and making eight assists in his three-month spell in Nottingham.

He actually made his debut in the UK against the Clan in a 2-1 overtime victory for Malcolm Cameron’s side back in February where Massy got an assist.

For the Clan coach, he outlined what Massy will bring to his team and revealed he’ll have some extra responsibility to look forward to.

“Kevin is a big, strong, right shot defenceman who makes a good first pass,” Malcolm Cameron said. “He also defends very hard and is evidenced by his +10 stat in Nottingham.

“I was really impressed with his game there last season and felt he could have played more of a role in special teams, which is something he’ll get to do with us.

“He’s a real pro, he’s in tremendous shape so we’re excited to add him and he gives us some additional size in skating on the back end.”

Massy will wear the #72 jersey for the Clan in 2022/23 and joins John Dunbar, Craig Peacock, Jordan Cownie, Stephen Dixon, Liam Stenton, Gergely Tóth, Zach Driscoll, Gary Haden, Colton Waltz, Steven McParland, Shawn Boutin, Mathieu Roy, Mitch Jones, Jordan Buesa and Harry Ferguson on the roster for next season.
