SIGNING: Kennedy checks in with Clan

July 8, 2022

Glasgow Clan sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West are delighted to announce the signing of new forward Bradley Kennedy for the 2022-23 season.

The 26-year-old winger is making his first move into Europe after leaving Mount Royal University in Canada then a brief spell in the ECHL with Fort Wayne Komets.

And now he reckons he’s ready for the full step into professional hockey as he looks ahead to a new adventure in Glasgow.

“I had a few good talks with the coach and watched some videos which gave me a really good feeling about the organisation,” Kennedy said.

“I got a handful of games as a pro with Fort Wayne Komets and I was only there for about four weeks, but it was a great experience that can help me moving to Glasgow.

“The step up wasn’t too bad.  In fact, it all happened so quickly, I never really got time to think about it too much.

“It was a great experience so it sets things up nicely for me.  I want to help the team as best I can in the new season and help develop my game.

“It feels pretty good to be a Clan player and I can’t wait to get over and get started in Scotland.”

Kennedy spent just over four and a half years at Mount Royal University, which is located in Calgary, Alberta after over 250 games in the QMJHL with Charlottetown Islanders and Halifax Mooseheads.

He played 115 times in the USports Canada league, picking up 85 points in total followed by his five-game stint in Fort Wayne, which yielded a goal and two assists.

Head Coach Malcolm Cameron welcomed Kennedy to his team and revealed his new signing is a player he’s kept tabs on for some time.

“Brad is a big, strong, right-handed shot forward that has good hands and a good shot, plus he can stick up for his team-mates too,” Cameron said.

“I haven’t met him personally, we come from the same area in Nova Scotia and I’m very familiar with his career.

“I kept a good eye on him in the last year at Mount Royal University and finishing off with Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL and he did well there.

“We’re excited to have him on board with us and can’t wait to see him in the new season.”

Kennedy will wear the #24 jersey for the Clan in 2022/23 and joins John Dunbar, Craig Peacock, Jordan Cownie, Stephen Dixon, Liam Stenton, Gergely Tóth, Zach Driscoll, Gary Haden, Colton Waltz, Steven McParland, Shawn Boutin, Mathieu Roy, Mitch Jones, Jordan Buesa, Harry Ferguson and Kevin Massy on the roster for next season.
