SIGNING: Defensive rock Brock joins the Clan

August 31, 2021

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian defenceman Brock Beukeboom.

The 29-year-old has committed to what will be his fourth season in Europe, after two in Denmark and one in Hungary.

The former Tampa Bay Lightning 2010 draft pick has opted to play in Scotland this season after almost joining the Clan in the past.

“Finding a job this year was more difficult than I thought,” admits Beukeboom. “Gareth Chalmers at the Clan had messaged me a couple of years ago to come, but I decided to stay in Denmark.

“As things went on this year, we decided to reach out to people I knew and I remembered about being contacted from the UK so talks began from there.

“It’s turned out great in the end and knowing guys who have played in the UK, they spoke really well about it. I’m grateful to have a job and look forward to playing there.”

Beukeboom’s name is one well known in the world of ice hockey when you consider Brock’s father, Jeff, is a four-time Stanley Cup winner with Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers.

After being drafted in the third round for Lightning in 2010, he started his career in the OHL with Soo Greyhounds then on to Niagara IceDogs before spending four years at University of Prince Edward Island.

Beukeboom had a year in the ECHL between Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Worcester Railers and Cincinnati Cyclones in 2017-18 before making the move to Europe.

He played in Hungary with Fehervari Titanok in the Erste Liga before moving to Denmark under former Dundee Stars coach Marc LeFebvre at Odense Bulldogs then last season with Fredrikshavn White Hawks.

Head coach Malcolm Cameron talked up his new signing’s attributes and is looking forward to working with him.

“Brock is a right-shot defenceman we were looking for to finalise the back end of our roster and comes highly recommended to us,” he said.

“He has a heavy shot from point that will generate second and third chances at the front for our forwards to get in on.

“We’re looking forward to having him join the Clan and we’re very excited to see him in action coming soon.”

Beukeboom is Clan’s 19th signing 2021/22 after Shane Starrett, Colin Campbell, Rodney Southam, Matt Haywood, Jordan McLaughlin, Mathieu Roy, Medric Mercier, Nolan LaPorte, Colton Yellow Horn, Jordan Buesa, Cody Sol, Mikko Vainonen, Jamie Crooks, Reece Cochrane, Guillaume Gauthier, Harry Ferguson, Tim Shoup and Quinn O’Brien.

He will wear the #25 jersey this season.
