Glasgow Clan sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West are delighted to announce the return of defenceman Colton Waltz ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Waltz returns after playing in purple for the latter end of last season, where he helped the team to a sixth place finish and a spot in the play-offs.

And not only is he keen to get back to Glasgow, he’s dying to return and build on what was achieved from the campaign just finished.

“I really enjoyed my time in Glasgow last season so it was the main reason I wanted to come back,” Waltz said. “Thanks to the guys who were there, I felt like I’d been there from day one.

“When I arrived, I got my feet wet early and managed to settle in quite quickly and got more and more comfortable as the weeks went on and I know what I’m stepping into.

“The way the season ended was an opportunity missed, but it’s definitely not something we should dwell.  It’s something to build from and that’s the main foundation for us.

“Malcolm is putting together an interesting line up and a strong team for the season ahead so I can’t wait to get over there and get started again.”

Waltz played 17 times for the Clan after arriving in early January from Fife Flyers, with whom he played 17 times also.

He picked up six assists wearing Purple Army, contributing to his total of nine points for the whole season, including one goal with the Flyers.

Clan head coach Malcolm Cameron was pleased with what he got from his D-man last season and outlined what he brought to the team.

“Colton was a great addition to our team last season at a time when we needed some depth in defence heading into the final stretch and he was a stabilising force,” Cameron said.

“He was extremely reliable where he would shut down pucks and shut down people and was a punishing defenceman.

“Colton was everything I remembered as when he was coming through in the WHL and I’m glad to have him for a full campaign this year.”

Waltz will continue to wear the #74 jersey for the Clan in 2022/23 and joins John Dunbar, Craig Peacock, Jordan Cownie, Stephen Dixon, Liam Stenton, Gergely Tóth, Zach Driscoll and Gary Haden on the roster for next season.
