Glasgow Clan forward and club legend Scott Pitt has announced his retirement from playing professional hockey, the 32-year-old took to Instagram on Monday to make the announcement.

The Ontario, Canada native originally joined the Clan in the summer 2014 from German DEL2 club Eispiraten Crimmitshau and went on to become the Clan’s all time leading points scorer during his five season’s at Braehead.

In 310 games for the Clan, Pitt scored 134 goals, assisted on 181 others, for 315 points.

During his nine season professional career, Pitt played for the American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers, Connecticut Whale and Peoria Rivermen, and the Florida Everblades, Las Vegas Wranglers and Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL.

Clan Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers commented: “Scott really is a Clan legend, joining us six years ago and going on to be part of four Gardiner Conference winning teams and a member of the team that played in our inaugural Champions Hockey League campaign.

“Scott is highly respected by everyone associated with the club and has become part of the fabric here. He was an integral part of the team that enjoyed the club’s most successful period.

“I would like to thank Scott for all his outstanding efforts and commitment during his five season’s with the Clan and wish himself, Lauren and Dawson all the very best for the future.”
