OSC: Matt Keith congratulates the OSC on 10 years

January 29, 2025

Hello Clan fans,

I would like to say a few words about the Clan as an organisation and the reason we are back here in Scotland, the Official Supporters Club (OSC).

For those that don’t know me, my name is Matt Keith and I had the privilege to play for this great club, and the honour to be the captain from 2014 to 2017. It seems like a lifetime ago, but being back this week brought back so many fond memories.

When Roddy, Kerry and the OSC invited Chelsea, Lola and I back for the 10 year anniversary celebration we were taken aback. It’s such an honour to still be thought about all these years later and be asked to be apart of a celebration like this means a lot.

I think about the Clan often and we talk about our time here more. Having our daughter Lola born here will forever keep us tied to Glasgow but I believe the friendships we made and the great people we met during those years are memories that have been engrained in us and will always hold special meaning to the Clan.

To the OSC, thank you. From the day we arrived 10 and a half years ago, the entire Supporters Club felt like part of our team. The support, the bonds and the personal relationships the players and our families were able to make is what made playing here so great. I was fortunate enough to play for 14 years, maybe a year too long if anyone remembers me in my last season, but I got to play for a lot of different teams and in many cities along the way and I can without a doubt in my mind say the OSC wouldn’t take a back seat to anyone.

The amount of work you guys do is amazing, game nights, events and behind the scenes never went unnoticed. One thing that sticks out in my mind is the camaraderie amongst the group. Whether it was traveling for away trips and chatting after games, seeing everyone so often at the team events or going to Spoons after a big win to celebrate as a whole, it just felt like an extension of the Clan, but more importantly an extension for us and our partners to have those meaningful relationships as well. Always filled with good laughs, a high five after a win and maybe even a pat on the back from some after a tough loss. It truly felt like family.

When I say thank you, it’s not only for the invite back and the amazing hospitality, but for what you have meant to myself and my family. We will be forever grateful. I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to mention two very important members of the OSC, two guys that would tell you how you played like it was, good or bad and no in between, but also two gentleman that left us way too soon.

To Andy Bonar and David McKay, I know you’re watching down on this night proud of what you were both so integral in helping create. You will always be remembered in my eyes as two of the nicest, down to earth, funny and caring people I have had the privilege to meet. We are thankful for our continued friendships with Tracy, Rosanne and family.

Lastly, to the president Roddy, thank you for your unwavering commitment to the Glasgow Clan, I hope it’s okay to speak on behalf of the players past and present, the club is very lucky to have such an amazing supporters club with you leading the way.

You are one of a kind, I miss our quick chats before games at Starbucks, I think you still owe me one. To the rest of the amazing board, and the entire supporters club, here’s to another great 10 years and to Corey and the team to good luck in bringing this great city a trophy or two soon. Thank you.
